Stinging-nettle

(Urtica dioica)

Externally, the plant is used to treat skin complaints, arthritic pain, gout, sciatica, neuralgia, haemorrhoids, hair problems etc. It acts as a counter-irritant, bringing more blood to the area to help remove the toxins that cause rheumatism. The formic acid from the nettles has a beneficial effect upon the rheumatic joints.
The juice of the nettle can be used as an antidote to stings from the leaves and an infusion of the fresh leaves is healing and soothing as a lotion for burns.
It is used in the treatment nettle rash and chickenpox, herpes labialis, externally is applied to bruises.

Used as a counter-irritant, bringing more blood to the area to help remove the toxins that causes rheumatism. Specific in cases of eczema especially in nervous eczema, itching blotches and acne facial in all the varieties of this condition. Rush, allergies to strawberries and insect bites. Helpful in arthritis, pain in the ankles and wrists. Burns and scalds. Itching and stinging of scrotum.

As a cleansing tonic and blood purifier so the plant is often used in the treatment of hay fever, arthritis, anemia etc
